South Korean percussionist Hyungi Lee came to UK at the age of twelve on an ABRSM Scholarship and studied orchestral percussion at the Royal College of Music with David Hockings and solo percussion with She-e Wu and Daniella Ganeva. She was awarded First Prize at the Seoul University National Competition, the Guildhall and Trinity Hall Marimba Competition and the Fermo International Percussion Competition in Italy.
She has performed as a soloist and in chamber groups at venues including Wigmore Hall, Royal Opera House and Cadogan Hall. She won first prize in the RCM Percussion Competition in 2016 and 2017. She has been selected as a Park Lane Young Artist 2019/20 and won the first prize in the Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition. Forthcoming concerts include performances at the Royal Opera House with the London Sinfonietta, a concerto performance with Orchestra of the Swan and a solo recital at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Her repertoire ranges from works by J.S.Bach and Piazolla to arrangements of Korean traditional songs and showcasing different solo percussion instruments.
